Cloudstrike Squadron

Here is some work in progress on my Cloudstrike Squadron made from Forgeworld Type II Falcon kits for Apocalypse. I'm nearly done, I just need to go about adding some details and cleaning up a few spots.

Although I haven't played since 3rd ed, all that I read at warseer suggests that falcons have been nerfed in 5th. I guess the potential for imbalanced point cost is mitigated more in an apocalypse game, but since I have a bunch of falcons myself which will be revived shortly for apocalypse (yay!), I'd like to ask:
What sort of tactical role do you see for your cloudstrike squadron? Are they better suited to DAVUs, gunboats or something else in this scale of engagement?

I still think that the Falcon is a good vehicle, that fills a different role than the other Heavy Support choices in the list. In particular it does have the ability to be scoring in regular games.

In terms of Apocalypse, the Cloudstrike Squadron does have a unique advantage over the standard Falcon as it allows the whole squadron to move as if they were flyers. This is incredibly valuable considering that it gives them an unlimited movement distance. It also increases their survivability in most cases, since most enemy units will need 6s to hit, and all the other benefits that flyers give.

I don't really want to talk too much about tactics with regards to the Squadron as I'm going to be using it soon in a game, and the people I'm using it against read this blog. However, I will point you to this other article:

After our huge game I'll talk more about it.

They look very nice... out of sheer curiosity: Which parts does FW sends you if you buy a mk2 conversion kit? Or rather which parts of a normal Falcon kit do you need for a conversion?

Do I guess right that -like the spinner kit- you need the complete hull and the lower part of the turret?

The Forgeworld kit has the following parts:

Upper turret
2 Side Hull Extensions (left and right)
Rear Hull Extension
Targeting Blister

Everything else you need a Falcon for, so basically you need a whole Falcon. Mine also have Shuriken Cannon upgrades which you can get from Wave Serpents or from Forgeworld. Or, you can always make them yourself.
