Apocalypse - The Scenario - Part 2

With the majority of work being done figuring out how things were going to work for objectives, I got to working on the scenario, filling in the historical elements first. My gaming group will be playing a slightly different version because of the models we have and the armies that we play.

RESERVES

In regards to units entering the table from reserve and outflanking, special consideration needs to be made for this setup. Units can enter into play from general reserves only by the area covered by their deployment zones. That is to say, an attackers force cannot enter the table from any point behind the walls of the city. Some special rules as noted in this scenario may ignore this special restriction.

ARMY COMPOSITION

To play the historical version of this battle, you will need the following forces. Feel free to substitute the army composition to whatever models you have available, such as counting Tyranids as daemons or even a separate element to the existing forces.

Defender
-    Any combination of Space Marine, Imperial Guard, Insquisition, and Eldar forces. Combined Imperial forces should be 3 times the points values of any Eldar forces present.
-    Commander Braxton must be a part of the Imperial Forces. Use a suitable Imperial Guard command model, or convert your own.
-    Inquisitor Fortez must be a part of the Inquisition Forces. Use a suitable Inquisitor model, or convert your own.

Attacker
-     Any combination of Orks, and Chaos Space Marines/Daemons. Combined Ork forces should be two times any Chaos forces present.
-    Warboss Razgob must be part of the Ork forces. Use a suitable Warboss model or convert your own.
-    Varlak the Tainted must be part of the Chaos forces. Use a suitable model or convert your own.

OBJECTIVES

This mission uses special objectives. There are 3 static objectives to take and hold as normal, plus there are special objectives that influence the battle. Each objective held or accomplished gives one Victory Point at the end of the game. The side that has the most Victory Points wins the scenario.

STATIC OBJECTIVES
-    There are 3 static objectives to this game of Apocalypse. First is Forai Gate which is deployed in no mans land.
-    Second is the Power Node, which is deployed in the center of the defender’s deployment zone.
-    Third is the outpost which is deployed in the center of the attacker’s deployment zone. These objectives all act as normal objectives do in Apocalypse.

OTHER OBJECTIVES
-    If Commander Braxton is killed, the Attackers gain one Victory Point.
-    If Inquisitor Fortez is killed, the Attackers gain one Victory Point.
-    If Razgob is killed, the Defenders gain one Victory Point.
-    If Varlak is killed, the Defenders gain one Victory Point.

Having to kill off the key enemy HQ units makes for an interesting mission. Do you go on an all out attack, using their abilities on the front lines, but risk their death, or do you hold them back, trying to stay alive and deny the points to the enemy? More to come, so stay tuned.
